‘World’s Strongest Redneck’ Steve McGranahan to Appear on The 700 Club; CMT personality to perform 135 lb. lift one handed live this Thursday

Nashville, TN (July 28, 2008) – Steve McGranahan, known as “The World’s Strongest Redneck,” will be featured on The 700 Club this Thursday, July 31.

Appearing twice on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the most recent alongside friend, Larry the Cable Guy, and having his own weekly segment on CMT’s Country Fried Home Videos, McGranahan will perform several acts of strength in front of The 700 Club’s live audience, including dead lifting 135 lbs. with one hand. He will further discuss how he uses wrenches, cards, nails, horseshoes and other items from daily life and breaks, rips and bends them as part of Heaven Bent Ministries, a nonprofit McGranahan launched a decade ago.

“I take the gifts God has given me, my strength and my ability to make people laugh, and I use them to encourage people to do more with the gifts that they have,” McGranahan explains. “We all have a unique gift and if we use those gifts to the best of our ability, and use them together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.”

McGranahan has left crowds speechless with his brawn while performing hundreds of strongman acts throughout the U.S. and internationally. In addition to placing first in the USA Men’s Indoor Masters Shot Put and holding a world record for ripping 11 decks of cards in 28 seconds with one hand, he also boasts a typing speed of eight words per minute, a talent that McGranahan says is rare among redneck gentlemen.

Along with his Tonight Show with Jay Leno and regular CMT appearances, McGranahan has also been featured on Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge and the Game Show Network’s I've Got a Secret. He has garnered exposure in magazines such as Strong and Kung Fu.
