DIAMOND RIO KICKS OFF LIGHTING CEREMONY AT OPRYLAND HOTEL IN NASHVILLE, TN
Band performs holiday album title track “The Star Still Shines”
as over 2 million Christmas lights brighten resort for the Christmas tradition.
Nashville, TN (November 20, 2007) – Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award-winning group, Diamond Rio, brought more than a sparkle to the world famous Opryland Hotel this past week Nashville.
Performing the title track from their recently released, first holiday project Diamond Rio Christmas: The Star Still Shines, the band joined other renowned Nashville and national figures to switch on more than 2 million Christmas lights during Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center’s annual Christmas lighting ceremony. Also featured were the city’s newly elected Mayor, Karl Dean; Tennessee State University marching band; Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase; the world-famous Radio City Rockettes; and Audrey Geisel, the wife of the late Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel.
