Respected artist, teacher, publisher, producer and studio executive Ben Speer, widely known as music director of the popular Homecoming Videos, and George Hairr, accomplished engineer and producer of highly lauded projects ranging from the Gaither Vocal Band and Mark Lowry to The Martins and the Crabb Family – just to name a few – offer a wide range of recording package opportunities for soloists or groups who want a quality, professional-sounding product.
Working together in the studio has long been a dream for Ben & George. After collaborating on past projects, they now look forward to completing an artist’s project with the vision that they share. Both have years of experience in the industry and hope to utilize their skills to hone their client’s talent.
A little history on these two musical talents…
Ben spent most of the 20th century as lead singer for the Speer Family, one of the most influential family groups in the history of gospel music. During that time, he appeared on more than 75 Speer Family albums. In 1950, he launched the Ben Speer Music Company, which published such great hits as "WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE,” “I’M STANDING ON THE SOLID ROCK,” “TOURING THAT CITY” and “I’LL WALK DEM GOLDEN STAIRS” which was recorded by Elvis. As a producer, he has produced albums by artists such as The Florida Boys, The Speers, Ivan Parker, Candy Christmas, Vern Jackson, Anthony Burger, The Weatherfords, and others. He also produces The Homeland Quartet, of which he is a member.
In 1989, Ben organized the first Ben Speer Stamps-Baxter School of Music, a school that meets each summer in Nashville to develop young artists. Deservingly so, Ben is a member of both the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and The Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame.
George’s crafty multi-talented skills have lent themselves to working with some of the best and brightest in the industry over the last two decades. His most recent production work includes engineering credits on the Gaither Vocal Band’s upcoming 2010 release, as well as producer and engineer on Mark Lowry’s “Be The Miracle.” Other well-known studio/artist collaborations adding to his long list of credentials are Michael English’s “Gospel” (along with Jay DeMarcus and Gary LeVox), producer on Judy Martin Hess’ “Color Me” and Jonathan Martin’s “Worship” CDs, and studio credits on artist projects such as Ernie Haase, Jake Hess, Jake Hess, Jr., Jeff & Sheri Easter, The Happy Goodman Family, Ray Boltz, Rex Nelon, JD Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, Susan Ashton, Terry McMillan, and many more.
