“TURNING NASHVILLE PINK” IN A MEANINGFUL OCTOBER CELEBRATION OF MUSIC AND AWARDS TO BENEFIT TENNESSEE BREAST CANCER COALITION

STATE CAPITOL TO BE SHOWERED IN PINK LIGHTING OCTOBER 24-30 --SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER WILL "ROLL-OUT THE PINK CARPET” ON OCTOBER 28

(Nashville, Tennessee) –October 10, 2011 –The Inspirational Country Music Association is this year moving to a new level of Nashville humanitarism with a “Turning Nashville Pink” theme being embraced both during Inspirational Country Music Week, October 24-27 and the ICM Awards presentation October 28 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Numerous businesses throughout downtown Nashville will display pink in support of the cause during Inspirational Country Music Week. The State Capitol itself will be bathed in pink lights for the entire week.

The 2011 ICM Awards continue as the highpoint finale of Inspirational Country Music Week. This year’s planned schedule will run October 24-28 in Nashville and as in past years is slated to draw a broad cross section of industry, music fans, broadcast media, and artists in a well-orchestrated showcase of music and seminar related activities.

The theme of the ICM organization’s associated events this year reflect a commitment to October’s national campaign for breast cancer awareness month and the organization’s corporate partnership to raise funds to benefit the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition. It’s an outreach close to the heart of Inspirational Country Music Association Executive Director, Jason Higgins.

“My own mother is a two time survivor of this devastating disease which now effects one out of eight women nationally,” he noted in a recent interview. “From our platform of having the ability to engage music and major name artists with the meaningful aspects of a vital humanitarism cause that would benefit Middle Tennessee, we felt out efforts in ‘Turning Nashville Pink’ would be an extremely meaningful addition to this year’s ICM Week and Awards Shows.”

Special events planned by include:

• Nashville’s State Capitol will “turn pink” with special lighting effects–October 24—28.
• A special “pink carpet” roll-out is planned for honoree survivors to enter the Awards Show as VIP guests –interacting with artists and presenters for photo opportunities, etc.
• A VIP honoree seating section is planned onstage at the Awards.
• Nossi College of the Arts based in Nashville is contributing original graphics to be displayed during ICM Week as well as producing a series of video vignettes with breast cancer survivors that will be aired during the presentation of the Inspirational Country Music Awards at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on October 28.
• A special “Silent Pink Auction” will be held during ICM Week at the Millennium Maxwell House host hotel, October 24-27.
• Downtown Nashville businesses and restaurants will display pink in their windows during ICM Week by special arrangement with the Nashville Downtown Partnership.
• Special concerts will be held nightly at 6:30 P.M. at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel during ICM Week with $10.00 ticket prices benefiting the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition. Artists set to perform include:

Additionally new artist Lucas Hoge, star of Animal Planet’s popular television series, Last Chance Highway, will have a special spotlight at the Friday presentation of the ICM Awards. His song, How Was I To Know is a tribute to his own mother’s fight against breast cancer.

The October 28 ICM Faith, Family & Country Awards presentation continue as the highpont finale of Inspirational Country Music Week.

The awards presentation will be co-hosted again this year by GAC-TV’s popular anchor host Storme Warren and Inside Edition’s Megan Alexander. Major award nominees for this year’s honors include Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Ronnie Dunn, The Band Perry, Josh Turner, Randy Travis, Ricky Skaggs, The Isaacs, and George Strait. Artists set to perform include the Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, Ricky Skaggs, Guy Penrod, Buddy Jewell, and Chuck Day with additional artist presenters and performers to be announced.
